For our newest single ‘Etienne’ we made a little trip to France:
Our second album Blueprint was mainly written in an old, crooked house in a picturesque French village. The village looks like a museum: it’s almost too clean and tidy and the gardens look like the gardens of Versailles. The dilapidated house feels out of place, hidden behind a disintegrated fence and an overgrown garden.
In an attempt to find out who this mysterious house once belonged to, they come across a name sloppily carved into the wood of the handy shed: Etienne. Who was this man? And what happened to him and this place?
This song is a word of thanks and an ode to the mysterious Etienne and his house, written in French of course, otherwise he won’t understand it.
